Two dead following shooting in rural Jefferson County
TUCKER (KATV) —
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office has identified the suspect and victims in a double murder overnight Friday.
According to Officers, Rodney Scaife, 34, was found behind the driver's wheel and unresponsive along Highway 15 in Tucker. Sciafe had suffered from an apparent gunshot and died on scene.
Deputies and investigators also found Trevarland Smith, 34 at the scene. Smith had also been shot and was transported by ambulance to the Jefferson County Regional Medical Center, but died while in transit.
The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Joshua Lasley of Altheimer, Arkansas. Lasley fleed from the scene immediately following the shooting and is still at-large.
He is being sought by investigators for two counts of murder. Lasley is considered armed and dangerous.
Authorities in Jefferson County are investigating a shooting near Tucker that left two men dead on Friday night.
Officials with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office say deputies responded to calls of a possible shooting in a rural part of the county around 9:00 PM on Friday. Deputies were able to locate a vehicle on Highway 15 North with two men inside appearing to be suffering from gunshot wounds.
According to JCSO, an unidentified African-American male was found shot dead inside the car - a passenger was also shot but still alive at the time. The passenger, another unidentified African-American male, died while being transported by ambulance to Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.
Sheriff's investigators have been able to identify a shooting suspect from witness accounts, according to a press release. The suspect's name however is being withheld pending further investigation.
