CONWAY, Ark. — Wildlife officers are asking for the public’s help after a video surfaced showing two men kicking and shooting a goose on a golf course.
Major Jason Parker, with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission reports that the incident happened at the end of April at the Centennial Valley Country Club in Conway.
“The goose did not make it and the officers had to dispose of it. It’s not a hunting season and for the Canadian geese and another concern is the safety factor,” said Parker.
The video showing the crime was posted Friday on the Arkansas Wildlife Officers Association’s Facebook page in hopes the public will come forward with possible leads on the suspects.
“It’s something the wildlife officers take seriously every day. It’s not just a goose to them it’s a part of Arkansas. It’s a part of something we want to protect and save for future generations,” said Parker.
The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission says the golf course is home to a large population of Canadian geese, a migratory bird that is federally protected.
Charges in this case could range from hunting out of season to federal wildlife violations.
