University of Arkansas student dies after being hit by distracted driver
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. —
An 18-year-old University of Arkansas student was hit by a car on Saturday February 2nd.
The student was crossing in a crosswalk on Garland Avenue between the Garland Parking Garage and the set of dorms dubbed "The Quads" according to University of Arkansas Police Captain Gary Crain.
According to family members that student died from her injuries at Washington Regional Medical Center.
The 17-year-old driver is not a student at the University but did receive two citations: failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and use of a handheld device while driving, said Crain.
