Hot Springs police are investigating after a female victim says she escaped suspects who kidnapped her.

On Wednesday at 7:50 p.m., officers were called to Kroger, located in the 3300 block of Central Ave., for a reported kidnapping.

That's where they met a 19-year-old woman who told police two suspects duct-taped her hands, feet, mouth and eyes and put her in the backseat of a vehicle.

The vehicle eventually stopped and the victim says she could see lights through an opening in the tape. That's when she reportedly managed to open the car door and flee.

Witnesses told police the victim got out of the car screaming and the suspects fled the scene in the vehicle, described as a gold-colored BMW.

The corporate affairs manager for Kroger Delta Division released the following statement in relation to the incident: “We want to thank the concerned Kroger associates and shoppers for quickly contacting local law enforcement in an effort to help the person impacted by this incident. Kroger will continue working with local law enforcement during this ongoing investigation.”

Authorities say the two suspects are known but are not being named at this time. The name of the victim has also not been released.

According to the police department, the investigation is ongoing, but it is believed the kidnapping might be drug-related.
