Victims, trooper involved in Hot Springs fatal wreck identified

Authorities have identified the two people killed and the trooper who was injured in a wreck Monday night in Hot Springs.

The wreck happened just after 9:15 p.m., as Hot Springs Police Department officers were called to the 1300 block of Airport Road, near Kleinshore Rd.

The accident involved a 2011 Chevy Malibu and a marked Arkansas State Police vehicle. Trooper First Class Brian Burke was behind the wheel of the ASP vehicle.

The two people inside the 2011 Chevy Malibu, Tavon Desean Jenkins, 24, and Cassandra Marie Braun, 26, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Trooper Burke was taken to a Hot Springs hospital, where he is reportedly listed in fair condition.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident, with accident reconstruction underway. Witnesses are being interviewed, and data is also being collected from the ASP vehicle involved.
