A dog who was found abandoned with duct tape around his paws and mouth has found a new home.

A mail delivery woman was shocked when she came across the dog laying on the side of County Road 14 near Pampa Thursday morning. She was able to free the dog, who then ran off. The Gray County Sheriff's Office was called but by the time Deputies arrived, the dog was gone.

Lesley Casper found the dog and gave him food and water but when she went inside her home for a few minutes, the dog was gone. Casper and others spent hours Thursday afternoon searching for the dog, which was nowhere to be found.

However, in a twist of fate, the dog found his way back to Casper's home and was found napping on her porch Friday afternoon.

Casper says she's named the pup Bandit and is excited to welcome him into her family. As for Bandit, it seems he's found his forever home.

"I am just glad I was able to help rescue this sweet dog," Casper said. "It breaks my heart to know people can be so cruel."

The GCSO asks anyone with information on who may have done this to the dog to contact them at (806)669-8022, as they are actively investigating the incident.
