Lowe's closing 51 stores across U.S., Canada
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- Lowe's has announced that it's closing 51 stores across the United States and Canada.
The company said the stores are underperforming and this will help the retail giant focus on the more profitable stores.
"The store closures are a necessary step in our strategic reassessment as we focus on building a stronger business," said CEO Marvin Ellison, in a statement.
CNN reported that retail stores are struggling to adjust to the online shopping world, especially with retails options like Amazon.
20 stores in the U.S. will close and 31 will close in Canada.
They said most of the stores closing are within 10 miles of another Lowe's.
The stores on the list will be closed by February 1, 2019 and the company said they will try to help employees find other jobs.
