SANGER, Calif. (KMPH) — Brittany Kristine Myers received a double lung transplant nearly 18 months ago.
She was a fighter and a beautiful young woman who had just gotten married.
Last Thursday, her fight ended.
KMPH first told you about Myers after she was hospitalized in Madera, California in 2021 with COVID.
In just days, she wound up in intensive care.
Her lungs were shot, and doctors said she needed a double lung transplant.
In March 2022, Myers got her transplant in San Diego and a second chance at life.
After the transplant, she had her ups and downs.
Close to her first anniversary with the new lungs, Myers texted KMPH and said she was ready to tell her story. But first, she had to get her hair and eyelashes done before the interview.
She dealt with a lot of medical hiccups, but she never lost her sense of humor.
KMPH never got to do the interview.
On September 4, Myers checked back into the hospital. Ten days later, she took her last breath.
Myers and her longtime boyfriend, Andrew Myers, were married on August 18. She called Andrew the love of her life.
Since her death, family members put together a GoFundMe.
