'We'd never turn our back on pancakes': IHOP says it faked IHOb name change
PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) - We’ve been fooled! In a surprising video posted to its Facebook page, IHOP says it's still IHOP. The restaurant “faked” a name change to promote its new burgers.
On June 11, the International House of Pancakes announced it was changing its name to IHOb, the “b” standing for “burgers.”
Less than a month later, it posted on social media to tell everyone it was just kidding.
“We’re giving away 60¢ short stacks on July 17 from 7a-7p for IHOP’s 60th birthday. That’s right, IHOP! We’d never turn our back on pancakes (except for that time we faked it to promote our new burgers),” it said in a Facebook post.
IHOP has already changed its Twitter bio to say, “If at first you don't pancake... pancake, pancake again.”
So, it turns out, the joke is on us.
