Nick Popham is a General Assignment Reporter at KATV and joined the team in August 2017.
Nick is originally from Southern California and grew up near Pasadena in a town called Altadena. He graduated magna cum laude in 2015 from California State University, Northridge, earning a B.A. in Journalism, with an emphasis on broadcasting and political science. Prior to joining the team at Channel 7, Nick got his start in television in Sioux City, Iowa with KMEG/KPTH (Siouxland News) as a multimedia journalist/reporter. During his time at Siouxland News, Nick received a first-place award from the Iowa Broadcast News Association for a feature story he did on the 36th Annual Wayne Chicken Show.
While in school, Nick was able to be a part of a couple of great internships. In the summer of 2015, Nick packed his bags and moved across the country to New York City for an internship with CBS News at 60 Minutes. While there, he got the chance to work for several producers at 60 Minutes, which included researching topics for stories that eventually aired on the Emmy Award winning show. In the fall, Nick made his way back to Los Angeles and was able to intern with FOX Sports Radio in Sherman Oaks. While at FSR, Nick learned what it took to produce and edit a nationally-syndicated radio talk show.
Nick is so excited to come to the South and be a part of a completely different region and culture of the country, as well be a part of the amazing team at Channel 7! Nick is a huge movie buff and will spend most of his off time at the movies. He is a die-hard UCLA, Los Angeles Angels, and Los Angeles Clippers fan and played baseball for 15 years before deciding to talk in front of a camera for a living.
